Foresight and strategic thinking are key leader capabilities that are fundamental to developing informed, timely and futures oriented strategy. Fit for future leadership requires strategy level leaders with a deep understanding of the links between foresight and strategic thinking moving industries away from a reliance on the past and a genuine engagement with possible futures.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Behavioural Science and Bachelor of Commerce from Griffith University with my professional career beginning as a graduate recruit in the Federal department of industry, tourism, and resources. I worked in policy and advocacy roles across government and industry and advanced to a CEO role with the QSIA. I extended my education by obtaining a Master of Business by Research at the University of the Sunshine Coast exploring strategy and strategic planning within Australian commercial fisher micro-businesses.
I am an innovative and highly versatile policy and advocacy professional having worked across a range of sectors specifically fisheries and working across all levels of government in Australia. I am the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Austalasian Institute of Marine Surveyors and formerly the CEO and Secretary of the Queensland Seafood Industry Association (QSIA), a Director of the Australian Council of Prawn Fisheries and a Director of the National Seafood Industry Alliance (the predecessor to Seafood Industry Australia).
I successfully completed my research thesis, and I was awarded a Doctoral qualification from the University of Southern Queensland. The focus of my thesis was leader capability development across the Australian agriculture and fisheries sectors.
